Norchem Corporation specializes in the development, manufacturing, and implementation of automated liquid injection systems & wastewater filtration systems for the commercial & industrial market. We are seeking a talented CAD Draftsman who is detail oriented and able to work in a small team environment. 

Essential Responsibilities

  • Produce and revise detailed drawings using AutoCAD for fabricated equipment and electrical assemblies such as UL control panels, SS tanks, water filtration skids and other items that include associated subassembly configurations 
  • Be familiar with the practices and procedures pertaining to technical matters in at least one or more of the following areas: Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation and Control, Construction, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, Site Surveying.
  • Under engineering direction, develop submittal packages with component cut sheets and parts breakdown for all components, component identification, process descriptions, start-up, Operation & Maintenance and service manuals
  • Work closely with senior design engineers and sales engineers to verify and convert rough drafts of P&ID's into final copies and coordinate with other team members to resolve design related issues.
  • Keep a working knowledge of internal and client CAD standards and the drawing database
  • Perform tasks such as digitizing, copying and scanning of drawings & prints.
  • Perform equipment inspections during fabrication and assembly and prior to shipment to ensure any modification made during fabrication and electrical assembly are incorporated into as-built drawings.
  • Maintain logs and records of all drawings, instruction booklets, test procedures and other pertinent information.
  • Maintain and operate printers to produce drawings for engineering, customer, sales and the fabrication/engineering shop use.
  • Maintain inventory for all supplies required to produce drawings including ink and paper inventory.
  • Attend project meetings and provide information about the status of requested designs
  • Self-check own work for completeness, accuracy, compliance to standards, fits and stack-ups
  • May be responsible for some design elements

Prerequisite Skills

  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Suite.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be quality minded and self-motivated.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, juggle and prioritize multiple projects and adjust work accordingly, often against tight deadlines
  • Extensive experience with PDF including insertion of cut sheets and markup of pages with PDF document.
  • Self-starter who can work with little or no supervision, strong organizational skills, positive attitude, and an ability to learn quickly
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and key metrics, work independently, as a team player, and drive results in a fast-paced, team-based environment.
  • Demonstrated experience working in an electrical or mechanical manufacturing environment.

Prerequisite Experience

  • Minimum Associates degree and/or certification/license in related field
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in CAD drafting, preferably in a job shop using Inventor 3D/Autocad 2D
