Norchem Corporation specializes in the development, manufacturing, and implementation of automated chemical injection technologies & water technologies for the textile care market. We are seeking a highly organized inventory specialist with strong knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, and stainless steel components that will lend themselves as a valuable team player to our customer focused parts department.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Contribute in all aspects of materials function including supply chain, purchasing and inventory management
  • Coordinates with manufacturing manager to produce the flow of materials through the manufacturing process, creating effective material flows systems
  • Provides vision, direction and focus to the Purchasing, Production Control, and Shipping and Receiving Materials Control Functions
  • Assists in the negotiation of materials, supplies, and contracts with suppliers
  • Reviews bid proposals and maintain supplier records
  • Contributes to the development and execution of a comprehensive Inventory Management Plan to optimize inventory levels, storage, and organization
  • Develops and implements programs to establish cost-savings initiatives to achieve specific department metrics
  • Serves as a cross-functional team member in cost reduction and continuous improvement by working with the Six Sigma and
  • Lean Manufacturing principle
  • Cooperates on purchasing strategies with all team members
  • Manages supplier relations including developing supplier performance objectives metrics
  • Manages all non-conformance material issues with suppliers
  • Establishes and manages department budgets
  • Establishes and manages department goals and strategies
  • Interfaces with Sales, Engineering and Quality departments to determine external customer needs
  • Develops and maintains a process for an accurate Inventory Control System
  • Assist in the Engineering shop as needed and instructed

Prerequisite Skills

  • Familiarity with various supply chain management systems and measurement tools to ensure shipping efficiency
  • Understanding of rapidly changing supply chain management innovations such as new logistics process, outsourced management of warehousing mobile computing, and real-time inventory management
  • Training in project management to support production schedules, to plan requirements for purchasing materials or services, and to ensure delivery of materials to production consistent with established schedules
  • Ability in analysis, organization, and communications as well as an ability to use office and computer equipment and software
  • Strong skills in change management, problem-solving, customer orientation, global business perspective, & team leadership

Prerequisite Experience

  • 3+ years' experience in Materials Management/Operations field in a manufacturing environment, preferably in high volume or automotive industries
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Professional certifications or working toward certification completion, in Purchasing or Inventory Control(CPIM)
  • Working knowledge of Class A or world-class operation methods and measurements such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or
  • Continuous Improvement Planning
  • Able to lift/carry up to 50lbs.
